250gb MW2 HDD caompatable with other Xbox 360's? Empty 250gb MW2 HDD caompatable with other Xbox 360's?

So this has been on my mind for quite a while, can we use the 250gb hard drive on a 2006 launch Xbox 360 for example, i see people selling just the hard drive and would like to get my hands on one but i dont want to buy one and it does not work, so maybe somebody has done this before and can verify it, i logiclly dont see why it would'nt work, different question but still applies; can i use a 250gb WesternDigital drive (FYI - Not the MW2 launch HDD), dont want to be banned here, so im trying to work within the legals of it all.
